I am a formally qualified photographer trained at the The Central Institute of Technology. I began photography as a profession in 2010 after a 20 year career in the tennis coaching industry.
I work with both film and digital medium, and video. Analogue photography gives me artistic pleasure and also a point of difference in the highly saturated digital photography era.
I have been selected for several group exhibitions, conducted 4 solo exhibitions and have been recognised through several awards from well respected photography organisations such as Perth Centre for Photography, Queensland Centre for Photography and the Australian Institute of Professional Photography.
My present body of work has been conducted 100% on film using an old canon eos50 and a medium format camera Contax 645. The project explores the unique car culture on the marine parade coastal strip between Fremantle and Cottesloe in Western Australia and can be see at www.coolcarphotography.com. In 2010 i was awarded top 10 Emerging Documentary Photographer by Capture Magazine for this project.
Previous projects have included a landscape photography project based in the Stirling Ranges National Park called ‘The Stirlings – Above and Beyond’. The project was part funded by Country Arts WA, and involved a 12 month mentorship with highly credentialed photographer Tony Hewitt (recently awarded AIPP Australian Photographer of the Year).
